TPCP Welcomes New Employees in April
TPCP welcomes Arlene Rose as Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program Branch Chief. Ms. Rose joined ADH in 1992, serving as the director of the AIDS/STD program until 1997. Since that time, she has since held a number of key leadership roles within the department including serving as the section chief for the Comprehensive Cancer Control, Obesity Treatment and Leadership Development Sections. Prior to joining ADH, Ms. Rose served as a Public Health Advisor for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 13 years working with Tennessee, Louisiana, South Carolina, Georgia and Arkansas.
In addition to management experience at both the state and federal levels, Ms. Rose has also worked collaboratively with community partners, non-profit groups and city and county governments to develop local education and advocacy programs. Most recently, she provided guidance for the Arkansas Coalition for Obesity Prevention’s Growing Health Communities project, a statewide Initiative to engage and support community leaders in developing local policies that will lead to system and environmental changes that promote optimal health.
Dee Shirley joined TPCP as Health Program Specialist for State & Community Interventions in February 2012. She previously served as a Program Coordinator for the Asian-Pacific Coalition for a Smoke-Free Arkansas where she worked with youth to help establish the Tobacco Free Parks and Recreation ordinance in 2010. Dee holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
